I have to share with everyone what a teacher here at Vena Stuart who also has a child in 3rd grade told me this morning. I've been going in her little girls class for about 3 wks. now and doing a 4 Square lesson to model the process for the teacher. I personally have loved doing this, but didn't know how much the children did til today. She said she just had to tell me what her daughter had said. She said she'd been loving Mrs. Watson coming in each week. I was teaching her exciting things!!! I almost cried, because I miss having a class that loves me. So, I got to get that goose bumpy feeling again! Yea! So, what we're doing ladies, does make an impact on the children.

  1. I am glad you are sharing this story right now because I needed it! I've been in pity party mode because my book blog is slow going! So many people signed on and have not joined in. I know the rain last weekend had a big impact. The good news is that there were 2 more people signed on this morning who posted comments!

Your experience with the 3rd grade teacher makes me fondly remember what I miss so much: having a class to love and who loves me. Last year's class was especially precious because I missed the first 3 weeks of school when my dad died suddenly. I was a mystery to them because they had only seen me on registration day. When I finally got there, we needed each other so much(the interim's husband got sick; they had been through a sub or 2)... The rest is just magic, one of the most amazing groups of 4th graders I have EVER had the honor of teaching!! We were a team.

This makes me realize that I have to focus "the love" on my teachers and try more to celebrate what they do every day. Guess I am still in that it's all about me stage Steve Barkley told us about! Shouldn't I be out of that stage by now???

  3. I know you guys miss the classroom and the kids so much. I felt that way myself and still do. This afternoon as I watched the video Karen made of students at GHS, I missed all those students from my past! This year my last group of HHS students graduated from COLLEGE!!! It was wonderful hearing from them and getting invitations to their graduation celebrations! But remember, you are widening your sphere of influence. You are helping more children now than you could ever have taught in an entire lifetime! The teachers you are helping today will still be teaching (many of them) long after YOU retire... does that give you a "goose-bumpy" moment???
